Germany vs Switzerland: Niklas Fulkrug to the rescue!

Julian Nagelsmann’s side struggled in Frankfurt but got the result they needed to ensure they top Group A

Germany Trøjer Personalisable have locked up top spot in Group A of Euro 2024 but it took a lot of effort against Switzerland, culminating in Niklas Fulkrug’s stoppage-time equaliser to give the hosts a 1-1 draw in Frankfurt.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side thought they had taken the lead in the 16th minute when Robert Andrich’s long-range shot went past Jan Sommer, but a VAR check saw that Jamal Musiala had been fouled during the build-up and the goal was ruled out.

Switzerland also took full advantage as they attacked from the other end and opened the scoring when Dan N’Doye volleyed the ball from close range and slotted it past the defender. The Bologna forward almost made it 2-0 shortly afterwards as Cheap Germany football shirts struggled to cope with the pace and movement of the Swiss forward.

The hosts started to create more chances after the break, but Sommer saved a shot from Musiala before Gundogan fired wide and Havertz headed in two headers. At the other end, Ruben Vargas had a goal ruled out for offside before Manuel Neuer saved a long-range shot from Granit Xhaka.

It was Fulkrug who took the initiative at the end, heading in his second goal of the tournament from substitute David Raum’s cross to send Switzerland into second place in the group.
